Penumbra Synchronization
Mare Feature (Original)
Penumbra Synchronization is the core feature of Sphene, allowing you to share your Penumbra mods and collections with other players in real-time.
What It Does
Penumbra Synchronization:
- Shares your installed Penumbra mods with connected players
- Syncs your Penumbra collections and assignments
- Applies mods from other players to your character
- Tracks mod package changes and history
- Supports temporary collections for testing
When to Use It
Penumbra Synchronization is essential for:
- Group coordination: Ensure everyone in your group sees the same mods
- Fashion shows: Share your outfit with others instantly
- Roleplay: Coordinate appearances for RP scenarios
- Testing: See how mods look on your character before installing
- Content creation: Get consistent appearances for screenshots and videos
How It Works
Mod Sharing
When you enable mod sharing:
- Sphene reads your active Penumbra mods
- Sends mod information to connected players
- Other players can choose to apply your mods
- Changes are applied in real-time without restart
Collection Sync
Synchronize your Penumbra collections:
- Share entire collections with groups or individuals
- Apply collections from other players
- Supports both regular and temporary collections
- Collection assignments are synced automatically
Real-Time Updates
All changes are synchronized instantly:
- Enable/disable a mod → Others see the change immediately
- Switch collections → Everyone updates at once
- Install new mods → Automatically detected and shared
- No game restart required for most changes
File Transfer
Sphene handles file transfers efficiently:
- Automatic downloads: Download mod files from other players
- CDN support: Use CDN for faster, more reliable downloads
- Fallback downloads: Automatic fallback if primary download fails
- Progress tracking: See download progress in the UI
- Compression: Optimized transfer sizes for faster downloads
Temporary Collections
For testing without permanent changes:
- Apply mods temporarily without saving to your collection
- Test how mods look before committing
- Easy to revert to your original setup
- Useful for trying out new mod combinations
Configuration
Configure Penumbra sync in settings:
- Auto-apply: Choose whether to auto-apply incoming mods
- Download location: Set where to store downloaded mod files
- Cache size: Limit the size of the mod file cache
- Collection behavior: Control how collections are synced
Tips
- Use temporary collections for testing before committing to permanent changes
- Check your download folder regularly to manage disk space
- Use the "Apply to all" option in MCDO to apply mods to multiple characters at once
- Disable auto-apply if you want to review incoming mods before using them
